Looking at separation of my blogs into different categories seems like a great idea. I can make sure my topics are easily separated. I can make sure all of my readers know what they are getting.
Then something happened. I was setting up my blog for my portfolio. I had setup my pages as necessary. I then saw that there was an overlap. No big deal I guess. Then, I saw something else starting to form. Promotion.
This is where things started to turn for me. Why am I spreading myself out so much? In order to promote myself effectively, I would have to write blog posts for each of my blogs, (there were 5) and then promote those articles. That is roughly 5-7 articles per blog. 25-35 articles per week. Kind of a lot, in my book. So I decided to combine and simplify them all. Why write 35 mediocre articles per week when I can write 5-7 great ones on one site and not have everyone darting all over the place just to read the latest. It is also much easier to let everyone know what and where the latest article is.
This is the first step in an effort to simplify my overcomplicated life. Hopefully it will help.
