PHP made the announcement that with the addition of 5.3.8, they will discontinue support to their 5.2 series. This is no cause for alarm of course, but what does this mean for PHP and WordPress users? Not much now, but now people are going to have to start their upgrades within the next year, as this software will start to become out of date.
Will servers do this? Of course not, but hey, that’s what happens sometimes.
An interesting factoid is that over 80% of WordPress sites are run on 5.2. Don’t drop everything you are doing, but keep this in mind and check with your hosting company and see if they have plans on upgrading their boxes in the near future, and if not, when and why.
