Combine And Simplify

Looking at separation of my blogs into different categories seems like a great idea.  I can make sure my topics are easily separated.  I can make sure all of my readers know what they are getting.

Then something happened.  I was setting up my blog for my portfolio.  I had setup my pages as necessary.  I then saw that there was an overlap.  No big deal I guess.  Then, I saw something else starting to form. Promotion.

A Word On Greek Mythological Figures

Someone asked me what the hell “Dolos” was in regards to my upcoming “Cool Marketing Plugin”.  I told him that Dolos was the spirit of trickery, cunning deception, craftiness, treachery and guile.  He was greek Mythological figure who was said to trick the greek gods into lying.

“Yea, but what does that have to do with Marketing?” he said.

Marketing is just a form of trickery.  You sell the sizzle, not the steak.  Well, people are buying the damn steak, not the sizzle.  You are tricking them, (even if not maliciously) into a purchase by building up a wow factor.  Sounds like trickery to me.

Finally Figured It All Out

While dealing and battling with what this blog was going to become, I hit a lot of snags in the line.  First, it was a blog to sell my products.  Failed.  Then it became a blog to sell my services.  Failded. Then it became a blog to sell my PLR Videos.  Failed.  Then, it became a personal blog.  Failed.  Then, it became a blog to broadcast my free plugins.  Guess what?  It has been the only thing with any sort of moderate success so far.

So because of this, I will be instead making this blog about my plugins, programming, and all things web coolness.  Hopefully this will be the last change.

The Top 5 Mistakes when it comes to Squeeze Pages

Are you making these 5 mistakes when setting up your squeeze page?  I hope not, because if you are, you may be sending your prospects away running!  I’ll bet you are probably doing at least one of these.

Is It Simple?

Are you trying to get their opt-in, get them to go to your blog, asking them for a sale, and telling them to refer a friend and retweet you? If your squeeze page has any more than one action, STOP IT!  Your squeeze page needs to be designed to do one thing and one thing only.  If you are asking them too much or getting them to do too much, they will do one thing for certain…

Forums Section Is Now Live!

Hello!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have opened up the beta of my forums directly on my site.  You no longer have to go to the old forums.  You can easily use the forums on my site and the blog at the same time!  No need for a bunch of multiple logins to manage, getting past folder authentication, etc.  It is all in one easy to use area!

It is still in beta, so I have to get the bugs and kinks out of it, so please bear with me.

There are some bugs with the system, so please be patient as I do my best to fix them.

How To Get Started: An Action Plan To Start On Your Business

I know we’ve all experienced it.  Writer’s block. Procrastination.  You name it.  Something is always there to keep us from getting started.  Is it fear that holds you back, or something else?  Not sure what to do about it? Let’s get started and find out how we can fix it.

You need to do 5 major things to give you that push into action.  Action is the key here and we need to do whatever it takes to go from dormant to active! You need to write down your goals to know where you stand in your timeline of your business or at least your project. You need to not make it so easy on yourself. You need to stay laser targeted by focusing on one thing at a time.  You need to make sure you are following your own goals, and not someone else’s.  And above all else, you need to balance work and play.  Let’s get started, shall we?

How To Find A Great Domain, With A Twist!

Hey all,

Just wanted to touch on domains here.  Are you picking the right domain for your adsense site/ebook/membership site/product, etc?  If not, you know you could be in severe trouble!!

A domain is usually one of the first things people pick when they are making a site or product.  This is WRONG!!  Stop doing it already!  Just because you thought of a great domain and it is available, doesn’t mean that someone else has the exact same idea and they are just waiting to take it out from under you.

Apple’s First Quarter Profits – $3.37 BILLION! But How?

Wowza!

It is a 50% percent increase from last year.  But more importantly, it is more than just business as usual.  It is the most profitable quarter they have EVER had.

I could bore you with numbers, but the biggest part about this big change has nothing to do with the numbers.  It is how they are read.

The way that Apple used to report their earnings was through a two-year period.  (Snooze…) The catch is now Apple is recording profits from sales from the same quarter that the earnings are reported.

For those of you who don’t quite get it, it is kind of an number inflation technique.

What’s that, an example you say?  Surely…

So you have this lemonade stand.  Yesterday, you made $20 selling lemonade for $1. Your parents come to you at the end of the day. They ask how much you made yesterday. You say, “Well before I tell you what I made, are you thirsty?”

They say, “Why of course we are.  I’ll buy some from you.”

They buy some and you tell them, “We made $21″.

They knew how much you made, and they tell you to go to your room because you are a dirty liar and will need microsoft to keep from bankruptcy…

The Word Etc…

We’ve all seen it.  When you want to trail off your voice but you are typing so you cannot express it.  The using of Etc. allows you to give a few examples of something without going into further detail.

But why use it? Using etc is like saying, “There are more examples, but I am too lazy to write them.”

Or better yet, “I don’t actually have any more examples than these two, but now you think I do…”

I am guilty of using etc.  I use them in my posts, pages, links, etc…. WHOOPS!  Sorry about that.

It is faster and easier to use etc. than to do you due diligence.  But hey, sometimes we are pressed for time, right?

I am ordering a cease and desist to the using of ETC!!! Stop doing things halfway!  Starting really saying what you are thinking.

Hopefully if we band together, we can start hearing what the world wants to hear!!!

They want to hear your thoughts, hopes, dreams, etc….

Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope everyone had a good year and hope that this new one brings you even more prosperity.

I hear about New Years Resolutions abound around this time.  I hear about losing weight, quitting smoking, being more active, getting motivated, taking the plunge into self-employment, etc. I’m sure all of you have heard the same thing.

My New Years Resolutions:

  • Putting out my own products
  • Increased Revenue
  • More exposure and name recognition

Here is the next kicker: Why do so few actually accomplish their new years resolutions?

My thought is because there isn’t a real significant difference to motivate or push a change in someone’s life.  Just because it says 2010 instead of 2009 in your iPhone doesn’t mean your life is different.  And I think that around February, people start to realize that.

So how will I make sure that I do not fall into this same trap?  How about setting an action plan.  The “ACTION PLAN” is the cursed thing that people keep seeming to peddle like cheap watches.  And everyone wants one but doesn’t seem to use it when they have one.

So it is time to get motivated and start using my action plan.  Here is my action plan for my goals:

Putting Out My Own Products:

  1. Search for a product that the market wants
  2. Develop a simple version and a complex version
  3. Put out the complex version for sale
  4. Give away the simple version for free
  5. Use the free version in the forums, on open source sites, download sites, torrents, JV’s
  6. Use the items to build a list
  7. Take care of that list!

Increased Revenue:

  1. Product Development and Sales
  2. Increased exposure to local offline and global online markets
  3. Adding value to current products and services, (extended support, premium services, etc.)
  4. Leverage, (affiliate Programs, outsourcing or automating redundant tasks, etc.)

More Exposure And Name Recognition:

  1. More activity on YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, Forums, etc.
  2. More activity on Blogs
  3. Referral Benefits, (encourage people to spread my name).

Of course each of these individual items can be further broken down into more action plans, but I’m sure you don’t want to read about that ;)
